Laser Skin Therapy

Dr. Jamé Heskett uses Intense Pulsed Light™ (IPL) therapy to treat a wide range of skin problems safely and effectively, with minimum down time. Using the VascuLight™ system, developed by the country’s finest dermatologists, Dr. Heskett is able to successfully treat rosacea, sun damage, large pores, age spots, and uneven skin tone. IPL™ therapy can also be used to eliminate unwanted hair and prominent blood vessels in the face and legs.

IPL™ Photo Rejuvenation

The skin is the largest single organ in the human body; like every other organ, it is susceptible to the effects of time and the rigors of daily life. Sun damage, wrinkles, blemishes and scars on the face and neck all make you look older - no matter how vital you feel. For many years, wearing the hallmarks of aging skin was considered inevitable and even believed to endow “character.”

However, recent clinical advances now make skin treatment more effective and affordable than ever before, challenging the notion of the need to age gracefully. Banishing wrinkles, lines and sun-damaged skin allow people to restore a fresh, younger-looking appearance without going under the knife or lengthy recovery periods.

Laser Treatment for Veins

Enlarged or proliferating blood vessels, known as benign vascular lesions, appear on the surface of the skin as splotches, dots, bulges, and spider shapes. They may range in color from red to purple or brown. Benign vascular lesions typically result when damaged valves in the vein cause blood to stagnate rather than be pumped back to the heart; the pooled blood creates stretched and protruding veins. In some locations, these veins are so tiny, even microscopic, that they are not visible under normal conditions.

The most common type of vascular lesions are varicose leg veins, which are believed to be hereditary, but are also associated with:

• Hormonal factors
• Obesity
• Pregnancy
• Old age
• Prolonged standing

Large, bulging varicose veins may cause pain and indicate a more serious vascular disorder. In one study, it was revealed that more than one million Americans suffer from leg ulcers caused by abnormal circulation resulting from varicose veins, and nearly 100,000 Americans are disabled by the condition. Although most vascular lesions do not pose a serious medical threat, improved circulation tends to impart a feeling of good health.

IPL™ therapy is excellent for eliminating spider veins and small varicose veins. During treatment, controlled pulses of light are directed towards the affected veins. Over time, the veins will collapse and disappear. Unlike other methods of vein therapy, IPL™ requires no needles or incisions and allows patients to return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.

Unwanted hair is a problem shared by both men and women. Some people experience unwanted or excess hair from the time they reach puberty; others find it to be a condition that gets worse with age. Some women experience additional hair growth during either pregnancy or menopause. Some diseases can also cause excessive hair growth, but these are rare.

Depending on its location on the body and an individual’s hair type, hair can grow in thick, bushy patches or long, thin strands. Hair production sites known as hair follicles can be found at different depths and densities — as close to the skin’s surface as a millimeter or as deep as 5 millimeters or more. Carboxytherapy
